Brendan White

This is one of our first and very cool projects.

Challenge

Brendan White is a world-known Bodhran maker (Irish Drums) and his products have travel all around the world, as well as being played by the highest exponentials of Irish folk music. Brendan was selling most of his products from his website, which did not have a web-shop and it contained all the characteristics of a truly web 1.0 webpage. He approached Whale Agency in order to give his website a liftoff, make it more contemporary and fitting to the demands of today’s internet shoppers.

Approach

First things first, and that was answering the question, WHY are people buying Brendan’s Bodhrans? Is it his superior quality, his many years in the industry or simply because people like him a lot?. We started the project by making a competitor research, analyzing Brendan’s top 5 competitors and studying the way that they were portraying their products, their pricing and their content strategy. After having that finished we moved into consumer insights, why are they buying his Bodhrans? The results of the research were really insightful and contributed greatly to our solution.

Solution

Channel Brendan’s personality throughout all brand touch points. Enable his clients to become fans and join the conversation with him on social media. We did a complete site re-design and made sure to make it is:

  • Responsive (it works on mobile as well as desktop devices
  • Social (there are call to actions to join his fan group on Facebook)
  • Interactive (potential clients can hear his bodhrans and see them before they make a purchase)
  • E-commerce friendly
  • Intuitive

Results (1 month)

Channeled more than 5000 unique visitors to the website
First hit on Google when looking for Bodhrans in Europe (organic search)
Doubled average purchases on the website – 36 new customers!
544 likes on the Fan page!
